Bhara Kahu Bypass Islamabad: Construction Updates

Prime minister Shahbaz Sharif had directed the CDA to start working on the Bhara Kahu Bypass. The project is being implemented in phases and is expected to be completed by the mid-start of 2023. Once completed, the Bhara Kahu Bypass is expected to reduce travel time by almost 40 minutes and provide easier access to the residents of Islamabad.
The project is planned in two phases. The first phase will involve the construction of a 5 km bypass from the M-1 Motorway to the Srinagar Highway. The second phase will involve the construction of a 1 km flyover linking the bypass to the Islamabad Expressway. The project is being undertaken by Frontier Works Organization, a subsidiary of the Pakistan Army, in order to reduce congestion on the Islamabad Expressway.
The 5-kilometer road (including a 1-kilometer flyover) will begin on Murree Road near the Quaid-i-Azam University stop and end on Murree Road near the Jugi bus stop next to Punjab Cash and Carry. The flyover will start at this location and end outside Bhara Kahu Bazaar in the direction of Murree.
