There is no doubt that access to pure water is the right of every individual worldwide. However, it is not wrong to say that water can cause peace or spark conflict.

Furthermore, issues or conflicts sometimes arise between communities and nations when water is scarce or polluted or people have unequal or limited access.

Thus, with this year’s theme, the major purpose of the UN is to make people understand that when we cooperate on water, we will be able to make a positive impact, develop harmony, generate wealth and to build resilience to shared challenges.

World Water Day aims to bring awareness to people around the globe that we must realize that water is not just a resource to be used or compete with; it is a human right which people must have access to it.

Moreover, the day is a reminder for people that it is high time to unite around water and use it for peace, create a strong foundation for a more stable and prosperous tomorrow.
